The Kalgoorlie Golf Course has been recognised as one of the best in Western Australia after been awarded the 2021 WA Regional Golf Course of the Year at the WA Golf Industry Awards on Friday night.

Currently ranked in the top 20 Public Access Courses in Australia, the Kalgoorlie Golf Course last took out the honours in 2013 and 2014.

Since then, further improvements to the aesthetics and conditioning of the 18-hole Course have been made, with the Course continuing to attract many visitors to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Mayor John Bowler said the Kalgoorlie Golf Course is a highly regarded by both those in the golf industry and high raking players around Australia.

“We have an outstanding golf course, from the layout to the beautiful scenery, it truly offers players a unique experience,” Mayor Bowler said.

“The Kalgoorlie Golf Course team work hard to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest possible standard and continues to be a key tourist attraction and facility our local club and community can be proud of.”

“To be judged against some of the best golf courses in the state and winning this prestigious award is a great accomplishment and testament of the quality of sporting facilities our City has to offer,” he said.

Kalgoorlie Golf Course Superintendent Patrick Casey said the team had worked extremely hard over the last 18 months, particularly through staff shortages, and winning the Award is a great reward for all their efforts.

“Now we have much look forward to with Club Championships coming up in August, the Goldfields Classic in September and the 2022 WA PGA Tournament in October.”

“We also have a number of charity golf and trade days, and we’re particularly excited for construction to commence on the new Hilton Hotel and clubhouse in September,” he said.
