The Kingsbury Park Youth Precinct will have a new soundtrack from later this month, with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder launching its first monthly live music program, Kingsbury LIVE, showcasing young local musicians, DJs and performers.
Held on the last Friday of each month, Kingsbury LIVE will give local performers a chance to get on stage and play in front of a crowd, while providing another reason to head down to the precinct, catch up with friends and enjoy some live music.
The skate park will also remain open until 8pm, giving people the chance to make the most of the precinct while the music is on.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said Kingsbury LIVE would help bring the precinct to life while giving young local performers valuable experience in front of a live audience.
“We’ve got some really talented young people in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, but getting that first chance to perform in front of a crowd can be the hardest part,” Mayor Wilson said.
“Kingsbury LIVE gives performers somewhere to have a go, whether they’ve been performing for a while or they’re getting up in front of a crowd for the first time.
“The Youth Precinct was designed with young people, for young people, so most importantly, we want it to continue to be a place where they feel comfortable, get involved and want to spend time.
“We hope these events become another regular reason to come down, catch up with friends, listen to some local music, have a skate or just hang out,” he said.
The first Kingsbury LIVE event will be held on Friday, 25 September, from 4pm to 8pm at the Kingsbury Park Youth Precinct. Further events will be held on Friday, 30 October and Friday, 27 November.
The event is free to attend, with children under 12 welcome when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
