Christmas is getting bigger in Kalgoorlie-Boulder this year, with more events, activities and festive displays set to bring the city to life throughout November and December.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's 2026 Christmas in the City program will offer something for all ages, from the much-loved Christmas Street Party and Lighting of the Christmas Tree to live entertainment, markets, creative workshops, Santa's Grotto and the popular Christmas Lights Trail.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the City had listened to community feedback and was looking forward to bringing more Christmas spirit to the city this year.
“We know our community loves Christmas and wants to see Kalgoorlie-Boulder looking and feeling festive at this time of year. We've taken that feedback on board, and there's a real focus on bringing more Christmas cheer to our streets and public spaces this year,” Mayor Wilson said.
“We're building on the events people already know and love, while adding some new displays and activities to give families more reasons to get out, celebrate and enjoy the festive season.
“From the Christmas Street Party in Boulder to the lights trail and installations, to markets and activities for the kids, we want people to feel that Christmas is happening right across Kalgoorlie-Boulder.”

The City is also continuing its partnership with the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI), with this year's Christmas activities providing another opportunity to work together to support local businesses and encourage people to shop locally.
Through the City's existing Memorandum of Understanding with the KBCCI, the Chamber will deliver this year's Santa's Grotto, Christmas Scan to Win competition and Christmas Window Decorating Competition amongst retailers, with City funding supporting these initiatives.
Mayor Wilson said the partnership was a great example of how the City and KBCCI could work together to bring activity into the city and support local businesses.
“Christmas is a particularly important time for our local businesses, and we want to encourage people to shop locally, visit our town centres and support the businesses that make our community what it is.
“Working with the KBCCI means we can bring together our efforts and deliver activities that benefit both the community and local business owners.”
KBCCI CEO Simone DeBeen said it’s fantastic to be working with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to deliver three Christmas initiatives helping to spread some Christmas cheer throughout the Goldfields community.
“It’s also a great opportunity to encourage people to shop locally and support the businesses that support our community all year round.”
“We’d love to see as many businesses as possible get involved and help make Christmas in Kalgoorlie-Boulder something everyone can enjoy."

Other additions will include lighting projections at the Kalgoorlie and Boulder Town Halls, feature displays along the poles on Hannan and Burt Streets, and the winning designs from the City's 2026 Christmas Street Banner Art Competition.
The winning banner designs will be unveiled later this month, with the artwork set to brighten our central business districts throughout the festive period.
