The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Multicultural Festival will return next month, bringing together an exciting mix of entertainment, food and cultural experiences from around the globe in a vibrant celebration of the diversity of our City.

Now running for 16 years, the much-loved community event will be held on Saturday, 6 June from 3pm to 8pm at the Lord Forrest Main Stage, on the corner of Cheetham and Cassidy Streets.

The free, family-friendly festival will feature a packed program of live entertainment, cultural performances, interactive activities and international cuisine, showcasing the many cultures that make Kalgoorlie-Boulder unique.

Festivalgoers can enjoy vibrant dance and music performances, roving entertainment, Tai Chi and Kung Fu demonstrations, henna tattoos, face painting and hands-on cultural activities for all ages. The Chinese Martial Arts & Lion Dance Association Inc will headline the event with spectacular lion dance performances throughout the evening.

Visitors will also be able to explore international food stalls, cultural displays and the popular Cultural Village, where local community groups will share stories, traditions and handmade goods.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the festival continues to play an important role in bringing the community together.

“It’s incredible to see how this event has grown over the past 16 years,” Mayor Wilson said.

“What started as a community celebration has become one of the City’s most vibrant and welcoming events, and that’s thanks to the passionate volunteers, performers and community groups who continue to support it year after year.”

“Kalgoorlie-Boulder is home to people from all over the world, and this festival is a chance to celebrate the cultures, traditions and stories that help shape our community.”

“There’ll be something for everyone – great performances, activities for the kids, dancing, new cultural experiences, and of course plenty of delicious food to enjoy,” he said.

“I’d encourage everyone to come along, bring the family and enjoy a great afternoon and evening celebrating the diversity that makes our community so special.”

Parking will be available at the Hanbury Street carpark behind the Goldfields Arts Centre and in surrounding streets.

The event will also feature an adults-licensed area by Esperance Distillery Co.

The Multicultural Festival is proudly supported by Lotterywest and Northern Star Resources. The event is free and open to all ages.
