The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is pleased to welcome two new senior leaders to its Executive Leadership Team, with the appointments of Gian Rimbaud as Director of Finance, People and Culture, and Adam Strelein as Director of City and Community.

Both leaders bring extensive experience across local government and the private sector, with strengths in financial stewardship, organisational transformation, community engagement, and economic strategy.

Gian Rimbaud joins the City with nearly 30 years’ experience in local and state government, as well as government-owned corporations. A respected leader in financial governance and organisational reform, Gian has led complex transformations, including the financial integration of multiple agencies at the NSW Department of Industry and major structural reforms at several regional and metropolitan councils.

Gian said he’s excited to be part of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder community and looks forward to working closely with Council and staff.

“The City has a clear direction and ambitious goals. My focus is on supporting financial resilience, building capability across the organisation, and helping to deliver great outcomes for the community,” he said.

“In my first week here, I’ve already seen the passion and dedication within the City’s team, and I’m excited to be part of that.”

Adam Strelein brings more than 25 years of local government experience, most recently as Manager of Economic and Community Development at the City of Belmont, where he led the City’s first Economic Development and First Nations strategies. He also played a key role in the development of an innovative Social Strategy and Community Engagement Framework at the City of Kwinana.

Adam described the opportunity to join the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder as both compelling and timely, saying he was drawn to the city's distinctive strengths and the exciting opportunities it presents.

“Kalgoorlie-Boulder has a powerful sense of identity and a deep connection to culture and place. I’m passionate about supporting vibrant communities and creating places where people want to live, work, and invest,” he said.

“Growing up in south-west WA, I am looking forward to relocating to the Goldfields and getting back into the connectedness of regional communities and collaborating on new opportunities".

CEO Andrew Brien said the appointments strengthen the City’s leadership team and reflect a renewed focus on strategic delivery.

“Gian and Adam are experienced, values-driven leaders who bring practical insight and a collaborative mindset to their work. Their appointments strengthen our leadership team at a pivotal time and reflect our focus on strategic delivery and achieving positive outcomes for
our community,” Mr Brien said.

“We’re pleased to welcome them both and look forward to the contribution they will make to the City and the broader Kalgoorlie-Boulder community.”

Gian commenced with the City this week, while Adam will officially begin his appointment in September.
