The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is inviting the community to recognise the people who give their time, support others and make a difference, with nominations now open for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The awards recognise people and groups who make a positive contribution to our community in their own way.

From volunteers and community leaders to young people making their mark and groups bringing people together, the awards are an opportunity to recognise someone who deserves every bit of a thank you.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said there were many people across Kalgoorlie-Boulder who quietly gave their time and energy to help others and make the community a better place.

“Kalgoorlie-Boulder has no shortage of people who go above and beyond, whether that’s volunteering their time, supporting others or making a contribution that has had a lasting impact on our community,” Mayor Wilson said.

“Many of these people don’t do it for recognition, so this is a chance for the community to make sure their efforts don’t go unnoticed.

“If there’s someone you think deserves to be recognised, I encourage you to put their name forward.”

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards have been recognising local people and groups for more than 20 years, with four categories:

• Community Citizen of the Year
• Young Community Citizen of the Year - for individuals aged 16 to 30 years
• Senior Community Citizen of the Year - for individuals over 65 years
• Active Citizenship - for community groups or events

Nominations can recognise contributions across a wide range of areas, including education, health, fundraising, volunteering, business, sport, arts, culture, the environment, social inclusion and other activities that contribute to the well-being of the community.

Nominations for the 2027 Community Citizen of the Year Awards close on 31 October 2026, with recipients announced at the City’s Australia Day celebrations in January 2027.

Nominations for the City’s Walk of Fame are also welcome throughout the year. Nominations are retained for consideration in future selection rounds.
