Young achievers, leaders, and changemakers are set to take centre stage once again, with nominations now open for the 2026 Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Awards.
Running for more than two decades, the Awards have grown into a valued celebration of the achievements, resilience, and leadership of young people aged 12 to 25, along with the youth workers and organisations who support them.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the Awards are an important way to acknowledge the significant role young people play in our community, and the positive impact they have across our city.
“These Awards recognise the meaningful contributions made by young people in Kalgoorlie-Boulder - whether through community service, innovation or the everyday actions that support others,” Mayor Wilson said.
“In the time we have run the Youth Awards, we’ve seen just how much young people give to our community. From volunteering and taking on leadership roles to excelling at school, the workplace, or a trade, these Awards highlight the strengths that make Kalgoorlie-Boulder a great place to live.”
“Every year, we’re inspired by the young people we meet. Their drive, community-mindedness, and willingness to step up remind us that the future of our city is in very capable hands.”
Youth Mayor Connor encouraged the community to nominate those they know who are making a difference.
“Being part of the Youth Council, I get to see how much young people care about our city. These Awards give us a way to recognise that and encourage others to keep getting involved”.
“If there’s a young person, youth worker, or organisation you’re proud of, I encourage you to nominate them and help us celebrate their efforts.”
The 2026 Awards feature six categories, acknowledging a wide range of strengths and achievements:
- Young Achiever Award
- Young Tradesperson or Apprentice of the Year
- Young Community Champion
- Young Cultural Leader
- Young Change Maker
- Youth Organisation of the Year
Each category winner will receive a $500 prize, with their achievements showcased by the City in the lead-up to and following the awards night.
