The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder officially opened the revitalised Kingsbury Park - Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct, a dynamic new space designed to bring young people, families, and the wider community together.

The $6.5 million project was officially opened by the Hon. David Michael MLA, Minister for Goldfields-Esperance, Member for Kalgoorlie Ali Kent, and Mayor Glenn Wilson.

Developed in partnership with the State Government and Lotterywest, the Kingsbury Park Youth Precinct is now the largest youth-focused recreation space in the Goldfields. It offers a host of new and upgraded features, including:

  • A refurbished skate park and brand-new pump track
  • Adventure play towers and parkour equipment for thrill seekers
  • A multipurpose sports court for basketball and other ball games
  • Shaded gathering spaces and a raised observation platform with ramp access
  • A “social spine” featuring modern seating, lighting, and solar-powered charging points

The precinct was shaped through extensive consultation with local young people, including the Youth Council, to ensure the space truly reflects what the next generation wanted.

Acting Youth Mayor Gabriella Mullin said the precinct had turned young people’s ideas into reality.

“Young people had a say in shaping what you see in the space now, and the result is amazing to see.”

“From the pump track to the parkour zones, it’s a place we can be proud of. What’s really special is that it’s not just a place to skate or hang out, but also a space where older youth can encourage younger kids to try new things.”

“Most importantly, it’s a place where everyone feels welcome and included,” she said.

Mayor Glenn Wilson said the opening marks a major milestone in the City’s commitment to creating inclusive, family-friendly, and youth-focused spaces.

“The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Precinct is more than just a park, it’s a place for children, teens, and adults to come together, whether for sport, adventure, or simply to catch up with friends.”

“Since the stage one opening, we’ve already seen so many come down and enjoy what the redeveloped precinct has to offer, and we look forward to seeing everyone in our community enjoy the completed space.”

“A project of this scale is only achieved through collaboration, and I thank our project partners, the State Government, Lotterywest, our contractors, and the City’s project team for working tirelessly to see this vision through,” he said.

“We’re proud to deliver this space for our youth and our community for generations to come.”

The Kingsbury Park Youth Precinct is now officially open to the public 7am-7pm during spring and summer.

To mark the occasion, the City will host a community open day during the upcoming school holidays, with full details to be announced soon.
