Due to popular demand, the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s Street Sports program is expanding, moving from fortnightly to weekly sports sessions.

Street Sports is an initiative launched by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder in October 2021 to encourage adolescents aged 12-18 years to get active. The program is aimed at all ability levels with a different team sport on offer each month.

The program is being run in partnership with theY Goldfields and Headspace Kalgoorlie with each session featuring music, free healthy food, smoothie bikes and a chill-out zone for attendees to relax and socialise. Soccer is the sport of choice for the month of May with sessions being facilitated by Football West.

City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayor John Bowler said that Street Sports is targeted at youth who do not typically participate in organised sport after school or on weekends.

“Through this program, we want to ensure all kids in Kalgoorlie-Boulder have an opportunity to try a new sport and meet new people in the process. Expanding the program to occur weekly will assist in attracting more participants to engage with our Youth team.”

The City is calling for and encouraging youth between the ages of 12-18 to visit the event page at www.ckb.wa.gov.au/events for more information about this amazing project.
