Council has tonight resolved to extend the contract of Acting Chief Executive Officer Mr Mal Osborne through to 27 March 2026 as part of ongoing executive leadership arrangements.
The extension provides organisational continuity while Chief Executive Officer Mr Andrew Brien remains on leave, ensuring stable leadership arrangements are in place for the approved period.
Mr Osborne brings extensive senior local government experience across Western Australia and will continue to provide executive leadership while the current arrangements remain in place.
Separately, Mr Brien has advised the City that he does not intend to extend his contract beyond its conclusion in March 2027.
Council acknowledges and appreciates Mr Brien’s early notification, noting it provides valuable time for succession planning and supports a considered and well-structured transition process.
The City will provide further information as appropriate.
