The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder has today recognised Graham Selkirk Thomson’s decades of leadership, advocacy and service with his induction into the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Walk of Fame.
The announcement was made during the closing session of the Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum at the Goldfields Arts Centre, before Mr Thomson, his family and friends joined Mayor Glenn Wilson on Hannan Street for the official unveiling of his Walk of Fame plaque.
The Walk of Fame celebrates individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the City through community service, business, culture, sport, industry and other fields, while helping enhance the profile and prosperity of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Mr Thomson’s induction recognises a lifetime of work supporting regional development, strengthening community connections and advocating for the infrastructure and investment needed for regional Western Australia to thrive.
Many people know Mr Thomson through his long association with Diggers & Dealers, where he played a significant behind-the-scenes role in helping establish the Forum as one of Australia’s leading mining events.
However, his contribution extends well beyond the mining industry. As a former City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Councillor and Deputy Mayor, Chairman of the Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission and the Regional Development Council, and through his involvement with business and community organisations, Mr Thomson has consistently worked to create opportunities for the Goldfields region.
His advocacy helped shape initiatives that increased investment in regional Western Australia, including the concept that became Royalties for Regions. He was also a strong supporter of major infrastructure projects, including the Pilbara-Goldfields Gas Pipeline and PortLink, recognising the importance of connectivity, energy security and long-term planning to support regional growth.
Through his work with organisations including LMS Ministries, Regional Chaplaincy Services and The Family Centre, Mr Thomson has also made a lasting impact on individuals and families across the community.

“Graham’s vision and commitment have helped shape our city and our region, and it is fitting that his contribution is now recognised with a place on the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Walk of Fame.”
Mr Thomson’s name now joins a group of distinguished individuals whose contributions have helped shape the history, identity and future of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
