Notice of Public Advertisement of Planning Proposal

The City has received an application for a proposed structure plan over Lots 26 & 27 Great Eastern Highway, Somerville (Reference No. SP26/02). The structure plan has been drafted as a planning instrument for the coordination of future zoning, subdivision and development of the land. Prior to the City considering the proposal, comments are invited:

Street: 9 & 11 Great Eastern Highway
Suburb: Somerville WA 6430

Proposal:

  • The current zoning of the abovementioned properties under the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Local Planning Scheme No. 2 is ‘Urban Development’.
  • The proposed structure plan has been prepared to facilitate:
    1. Approximately 36 to 42 grouped dwellings within a ‘Residential’ zone designation.
    2. A range of supporting uses within a ‘Mixed-Use’ zone designation.
    3. A neighbourhood-scale commercial centre with opportunities for a supermarket, specialty retail tenancies, hotel and tavern within a ‘Commercial’ zone designation.

The proposed structure plan requires Council’s consideration. This includes a Council recommendation being provided to the Western Australian Planning Commission, who is the ultimate decision maker for the proposed structure plan.

Submissions may be made on the proposal up until Wednesday, 15 July 2026. Comments on the proposal may be submitted to the local government in writing on or before that date.
