Boulder Town Hall 125 Celebrations

We're excited to host a schedule of activities and events from June to  August celebrating the 125th Anniversary of Boulder.

There are two feature events at the Boulder Town Hall - the Back to Boulder Gala Night on the 6 August and the Remembering Boulder Exhibition launching on the 13 August.

We also have a program of free activities to suit all ages and interests. Check out the schedule below and join in on the celebrations.

Feature Events

Gala Evening

Go back to when the Boulder Town Hall was the centre of all gatherings and dances. The Back to Boulder Gala Evening marks the exact anniversary of Boulder becoming a municipality, and promises to be a night to remember. 

Reminisce with friends and family as you enjoy the cocktail function, featuring a live band, a historic story-telling display and roving entertainment. Even have your portrait done by a caricaturist!

Date: Saturday 6 August 2022

Time: Doors open 6.00pm (formalities start 7.00pm)

Location: Boulder Town Hall

Cost: $50.00 per person*

(Canapes, grazing platters and drinks (selection of beer, wine, sparkling wine and soft drinks) provided

Exhibition, Markets and Car Show

Enjoy an afternoon celebrating everything about Boulder.

The Boulder Town Hall precinct will come to life with markets, games and activities for all ages. Enjoy a bite to eat while shopping at local stalls and viewing the cars on display.

Time: 1.00pm-4.00pm

Location: Burt and Brookman Streets, Boulder

Cost: Free

Remembering Boulder Exhibition

Inside, the Remembering Boulder Exhibition will be launched. The Exhibition highlights 125 years of Boulder’s history. The interpretative displays feature unique photographs and artefacts that reveal the story of Boulder.

Developed in partnership with the Eastern Goldfields Historical Society and the Goldfields Aboriginal Language Centre, the exhibition launch will accompany other activities organised by the City’s History and Heritage team.

You'll also be treated to:

  • Live performances
  • Boulder Town Hall Historic Tours 
  • Light refreshments

A Boulder 125th Anniversary commemorative coin will be given to the first 100 families through the Exhibition on Saturday 13 August.

The Remembering Boulder Exhibition will be open until the 24 September 2022.

Markets and Car Show

The Boulder Town Hall precinct will come to life with markets, games and activities for all ages. Enjoy a bite to eat while shopping at local stalls and viewing the classic cars on display. You'll also have a chance to vote for the People's Choice Award.

Mayoral Cup and Community Race Day

Enjoy a day at the races! We're proud to sponsor a community race day at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Race Club for the running of the 2022 City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mayoral Cup. Watch the Celebrating Boulder 125 Maiden Race.

Short Story Competition

Submit an entry into the Boulder 125 Short Story Competition. Categories include:

  • Primary School aged writer
  • Secondary School aged writer
  • Adult writer

Entries must be under <2000 words using this photo prompt.

Short Story Creative Writing Workshop

Hosted by the Goldfields Writer's Group and the City's History and Heritage team, this workshop will help you learn how to write a short story and give you ideas and inspiration to start your entry for the Boulder 125 Short Story Competition.

July School Holiday Activities

Colouring competition

Children of Kalgoorlie-Boulder are encouraged to participate in the Boulder 125 Colouring Competition. Entry information and colouring pages can be collected from the Boulder Town Hall or William Grundt Memorial Library. Age categories for prizes are:

  • < 6 years old
  • 7-10 years
  • 11-12 years 

Entries open: Saturday 2 July 2022

Entries close at Noon, Sunday, 17 July.

Cost: Free

Logo Hunt @ the Boulder Town Hall

Join the hunt for the City's Boulder 125 Logo. You'll wander around the historic Boulder Town Hall rooms in search of the logo button, which has been hidden in a top-secret location.

When you've found the button, post it and #boulder125fun on your social media page to go into the draw to win a prize.

Youth Council meeting and Pizza Night

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Council will meet in the historic Council Chambers upstairs at the Boulder Town Hall. Youth around the City are encouraged to come along to discuss and contribute to upcoming youth projects and initiatives.

Time: 5.00pm

Location: Boulder Town Hall

Stay back for a pizza and games night. 

Youth Skate Session @ Palace Theatre

Youth aged 18 and under are invited to a skate session at the Palace Theatre. If you're a beginner or pro come along for a free skate sesh.

Time: 3.00pm -5.00pm

Go Local First Business Promotion 

Go Local First in Boulder

Go Local First Boulder will promote all local businesses from tourism, hospitality, retail, home based businesses, trades, professional and mining support services and more.

We understand that supporting local business happens in many forms, from shopping at your favourite boutique, supporting a home based business, dining out at a local restaurant, to hiring a tradie to get that long awaited home project completed.

For the month of August, when shopping or dining at a participating Boulder business, scan the QR Code at the register for your chance to win a $150 voucher to your favourite Boulder business, drawn weekly.
