Applications are now open for the second round of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s updated Community Grants Program, with funding available to support community-led projects, events and initiatives that deliver meaningful local impact.
Funding is open to eligible not-for-profit organisations, community groups, clubs, associations, social enterprises and registered charities. Individuals may apply where supported by an auspice organisation.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the City’s updated grants program continues to support the people and organisations making a difference in our community.
“Across our community, there are volunteers and organisations who give their time generously, often behind the scenes, to create opportunities, build connections and strengthen community life,” Mayor Wilson said.
“Our grants program is one of the most practical ways the City can support the work of these organisations and help turn good ideas into real outcomes for the community.”
Mayor Wilson said the City had made important changes to the Grants Program in the past year to ensure funding delivers the greatest possible benefit.
“There is now a stronger focus on impact, accountability and ensuring projects are well planned and capable of delivering clear community outcomes,” he said.
“The Grants Program exists to help good ideas become a reality, and I encourage any local group or organisation with a project that will benefit our community to apply.”
The Grants Program offers two funding streams:
- Major Grants (over $50,000): supporting large-scale initiatives with broad community impact. Applications are open now and close on 6 June 2026, with a second round to open later in the year.
- Minor Grants (up to $50,000): supporting smaller-scale projects, with applications open 1 July to 31 May each year.
Funding may include a combination of financial and in-kind support.
All applications must clearly demonstrate community benefit, align with the City’s strategic priorities, and show that the project is achievable, well-managed and able to be successfully delivered and acquitted.
Importantly, as part of the updated process, all applicants are now required to meet with the City’s Community Development team before applying.
“It gives groups the chance to understand the requirements, confirm eligibility and make sure their application is on the right track before it is submitted.”
The program supports a wide range of initiatives across areas such as sport, arts and culture, youth, and community services, particularly those that build connection, strengthen local pride, and activate community spaces.
For full program guidelines, eligibility requirements and application details, visit the City’s website or contact the Community Development team to arrange a pre-application meeting.
