The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is excited to partner with the Shire of Coolgardie for this year’s first regional outing for Seniors.

Taking place on Thursday 23 March, the free outing promises an immersive experience exploring the sites and attractions at Coolgardie. Seniors will take a bus ride from the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre to experience a guided tour of the Coolgardie Museum and Ben Prior Park.

As part of the first stop of the day, attendees will read about local history from the gold rush era, view artefacts and take a stroll through the beautiful park surroundings.

Next, they will be treated to delightful Devonshire Tea at Warden Finnerty Residence, along with a light lunch and an afternoon of live music.

Mayor John Bowler said the regional outing not only provides an opportunity to learn more about the fascinating history of our region but most importantly encourages senior residents to get out and about.

“Technically the first outing was planned for last week, however the hot weather saw us take the Seniors on an outing closer to home – the WA Museum of the Goldfields.”

“A fantastic day was had by all and we’re looking forward to this next outing to Coolgardie.”

“We are fortunate to have so many iconic sites and rich heritage close by, the Warden Finnerty Residence in particular holds a special place in the history of Coolgardie and I’m sure our seniors will really enjoy what’s in store for the visit.”

“Ensuring our senior residents have opportunities to live an active and engaging life in our city is a key outcome of the City’s Aged Friendly Strategy, and these regular outings will help achieve this.”

“Seniors can expect to have an enjoyable day along with fantastic company. The bus will be comfortable and air-conditioned, and City Officers will be on hand to provide assistance."

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore our region, connect with other seniors from other areas of the Goldfields, and have a great time.

The bus will depart at 9.30am, Thursday 23 March from the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre, expecting to return at approximately 1 pm. This a no-cost event for seniors of
Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Attendees can register in person at the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre or by calling the Centre on 9021 9801.

More information about this event and other City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder programs for seniors is available on the City’s website ckb.wa.gov.au.
