This will be a Christmas like no other, with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder announcing its Christmas in the City program of activities and events, including for the first time - a Christmas Lights Trail.

A new addition to the City’s program, the Christmas Lights Trail will feature giant interactive light displays across Kalgoorlie and Boulder. Sure to be popular with families, residents will be able to download a free map for the locations showcasing the magical displays.

The trail starts on Hannan Street and ends with a spectacular adventure in Loopline Park Boulder, and is open from 28 November to Saturday 24 December, between 6 pm-10 pm.

The Christmas in the City schedule also includes the popular Santa’s Grotto, a free opportunity for children to meet and take a photo with Santa. To reduce wait times this year, sessions will need to be pre-booked online. A paid photo option is also available for Saturday sessions.

Mayor John Bowler said the City is proud to provide the community with a suite of entertainment during the Christmas period this year.

“In addition to our popular Christmas Street Party and Seniors Lunch, the Christmas Lights Trail gives families an opportunity to get out and about and enjoy the festive cheer at this time of the year.”

“We also have a scavenger hunt activity on Burt Street and a range of CBD entertainment to draw shoppers into our central business districts and stay longer while they shop.”

“Our Goldfields Arts Centre is once again hosting the annual Twilight Christmas Markets, which will include an outdoor bar area and free Christmas movie.”

“We’re looking forward to lighting the Christmas Tree in Loopline Park, followed by spectacular fireworks show, and encourage everyone to go local first when doing their Christmas shopping this year,” Mayor Bowler said.

The City is also encouraging residents to enter the Low-Waste Christmas Challenge and go in the draw to win a range of prizes, including vouchers, a worm farm, container storage, and more.
