Our local procurement has increased significantly in the last five years, but it is an ongoing battle and we can’t rest on our laurels.

It’s great to see the news that the GEDC has launched a local procurement portal, the GE Business Register, backed by nine major mining companies with the aim to increase local procurement content for the mining industry.

The GE Business Register is free for local businesses to register, and will feature a pipeline of works for the Goldfields Esperance region, so local businesses can see what opportunities are available for local tenders, expressions of interest, maintenance works and shut downs.

In the modern world, with specialization, some things, by necessity, come from certain parts of Australia, or even the world,

The City alone has more than 6000 local suppliers on its books, and a local operational expenditure of $9.1million, and we are continuing to work with local businesses, suppliers and service providers to increase this.

It’s great to see other major spenders in town stepping up to make sure that money being spent by locals is spent locally, building profitable and sustainable relationships with industry and local business.
