This year’s Seniors week will be one to remember with a week-long schedule of events planned at The Eastern Goldfields Community Centre and across the city.

Hosted by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, this year’s Seniors Week will be held from 7-11 November, with a Seniors Info Market and ribbon-cutting ceremony planned to launch the event.

The free activities scheduled throughout the week include art and craft classes, lawn bowls, a private movie session at Orana Cinemas, tram tours around the city, an intergenerational playgroup activity, and a big BBQ at Hammond Park.

Mayor John Bowler said the City was excited to host this year’s Seniors Week and has welcomed the input from local senior residents on what activities they wanted to be held.
“We’ve received some great feedback as part of our recent community consultation with seniors and local service providers, which has helped City Officers plan a great schedule of activities that cater to a range of interests.”

“The planned activities provide an opportunity for seniors to connect with others in our community and try new things. We want every senior to take part in one or all the free activities on offer.”

“The Seniors Info Market will feature a range of exhibitors, with a focus on wellness and well-being, as well as encouraging seniors to actively participate in community life,” he said.
Stall holders interested in being a part of the Seniors Week Info Market, are encouraged to submit their interest by close of business Tuesday 25 October.

The Seniors Week events and activities are provided to seniors free of charge, with some activities requiring pre-registration to attend.

Following the week-long celebration, the City is offering two complimentary two-week memberships to the Easter Goldfields Community Centre for new members. Membership forms are available at the Centre.

Seniors can register for Seniors Week activities by calling the Eastern Goldfields Community Centre on 9021 9801 or by completing a registration form here.
