    In rural areas of Western Australia there are significant doctor shortages. To address this, the undergraduate course at Curtin Medical School provides you with a broad range of medical skills and experiences to meet the challenges of working as a doctor outside metropolitan areas.     University Departments of Rural Health are academic centres based in rural and remote Australia funded via the Commonwealth Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program. Established in 2023 at Curtin's Kalgoorlie Campus, the Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) aims to strengthen the supply, capability, and impact of healthcare graduates in the Goldfields region and in doing so help address healthcare disparities in our rural communities.     Industry Training & Workplace Services (ITWS) is a dynamic and focused private Registered Training Organisation (RTO # 51655) built around delivering a quality product that reflects industry needs. We offer an environment in which staff participants are supported to excel in Their areas of expertise. We are governed by various government agencies and follow the rules set down by the Standards for an RTO. ITWS was created in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in 2007 and has been locally owned and operated since then.   • The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia (RCSWA)

    RCSWA is a joint venture between the medical schools of the University of Western Australia, Nore Dame Australia, and Curtin University. More than 100 medical students in their penultimate year are placed for a full academic year at one of 15 rural sites in WA each year, including Kalgoorlie, the school's administration headquarters. About 20 final year students spend a full academic year in Albany, Broome, Banbury or Geraldton prior to graduating. A further 400 medical students in their final year are placed in rural towns in WA for a short-term General Practice placement. The school's ultimate mission is to train future rural doctors and academics to ensure equitable across to high quality, culturally appropriate healthcare for rural and remote Western Australians.
